Stack Ring Tutorial

February Birthstone Jewelry, Amethyst Stack Ring Tutorial

February Birthstone Stack Rings Tutorial ~ It’s supper easy!
For this supper cute amethyst stack ring i use stainless steel that I purchased at home depot at an affordable price! No weaving or soldering is required. These little gemstone rings will make a stunning gift!
IMPORTANT - Stainless Steel is a hard wire and there is a strong possibility that it could damage your cutters, it is not advisable to cut the wire with your jewelry cutters, please use cutters suitable for cutting stainless steel.

Materials:

  • 1 x 6 mm Amethyst Bead
  • 1 x 20 cm 20-gauge Stainless Steel - if you prefer, you can use 20-gauge dead soft wire.
  • This ring was a size 6 - wire lengths can varied dependent on size of ring.

Tools:

  • Wire Cutters
  • Chain Nose pliers
  • Long Nose pliers
  • Nylon Jaw pliers
  • Ring Mandrel
  • Ruler

I used 18 cm of wire, I found it was just enough to make a size 7 ring, I think its better to use a longer piece of wire, say 20 cm or more dependent on ring size.

Place the 6 mm bead, of your chose, in the center of the wire.

Bend the wire up around bead, as indicated in image.

Wrap wire and bead once around mandrel at desired size, as indicated.

Wrap the wire over around the bead, pulling tight.

Your ring should look like this, at this stage. I'm just using the wooden clamp to show the ring, the clamp is not required to complete the project.

Wrap the wires on either side of the ring, through the middle and around, this will secure the ring and the bead. You can see a small piece of wire sticking out in the image above, where I have wrapped the wire around the ring. This wire will be trimmed flush with the ring and made smooth, so that there are no rough edges.
