Sea Glass and Rose Gold Ring Tutorial
For this supper cute handmade sea glass ring i use center drilled sea glass and rose gold artistic wire ~ No weaving or soldering is required. These little sea glass rings will make a stunning mothers day gift!
- 1 x 6 mm Sea Glass with center hole drilled
- 6 x 3 mm Beads (Optional)
- 1 x 20 cm 20-gauge Rose Gold dead soft wire.
- This ring was a size 6 / 7 - wire lengths can varied dependent on size of ring.
- Wire Cutters
- Chain Nose pliers
- Long Nose pliers
- Nylon Jaw pliers
- Ring Mandrel
I used 20 cm of wire, I found it was just enough to make a size 7 ring, I think its better to use a longer piece of wire, say 20 cm or more dependent on ring size.
Wrap the wire around the ring mandrel one full rotation at desired size, pulling tight. As indicated in image.
Where to two wire ends meet, bend one of the wire ends 90 degrees up and slip on the sea glass bead. As indicated in image above.
With the wire that has just been fed through the sea glass bead, Bend the wire flat on top of the sea glass, this will secure the sea glass in place.
Pressing down lightly with your thumb, on the sea glass and wire, turn the wire in a clock wise directing, making a small swirl on top of the sea glass.
Your ring should look like this, at this stage.
Using the 6 x 3 mm beads, slide the 6 beads on to the other free wire end.
Pulling the wires tight around the sea glass, Wrap the wires on either side of the ring, through the middle and around, this will secure the ring and the sea glass. Trim excess wire flush with the ring and made smooth, so that there are no rough edges. Get some inspiration with image below.
Disclaimer ~ this is not my design, I'm not sure where this design originated from, I have seen various methods of making this ring and would like to share my version of the rings.
